An import permit is required for your pet and must accompany the animal at time of entry.

Restricted Breeds:

The following pure breed dogs and their mixes listed below are not allowed entry in the Bahamas:

• Pitbull
• Presna Canario
• Cane Corso
• American Bully
• Staffordshire Terrier
• Dogo Argentino

The following pure breed cats and their mixes listed below are not allowed entry in the Bahamas:

• Savannah Cat
• Bengal Cat
• Chausie

New Requirements for United States Entry

Starting on August 1, 2024, dogs entering or returning to the United States must meet new, specific requirements depending on where they have been in the 6 months before entering the U.S. and where they received their rabies vaccines.
